I Love Braids
I love braids! I love the way they look and the way they feel. I love the design whether elaborate or simple. I love the seeming free-form of braids and the hard lines of design. Braids can be simplistic in its’ style like the beauty of Nu-Locs or complicated as other techniques are added into the mix; braids with twist, braids with coils, braids with cornrows and on and on. Braids can take you to new heights with the short and long of it all or encompass many layers like the ever so sophisticated Braided Wrap. Braids, braids, braids- the combinations are endless. What an adventure. Braids can be fun, sexy, risky, gosh or nightmarish; hell, braids can be all of that and a bag of chips (I know that’s corny but, I am a corny kinda gal) when you think about just how fabulous they are.
I love everything about braids from beginning to end. I love designing my style and watching it come to life as I braid each braid. Upon completion, there is a sigh of relief. All braids are finished and I am done. In the past, I have actually sat in a chair and let one of my stylist do my hair, boy those were the good old days. For you, I’m sure your sigh is because your stylist is off your head- Hallelujah.
I love how a new braided style makes my face glow and how beautiful I feel when I see myself in the mirror. There is a feeling of exhilaration because I don’t have to do my hair for now. At this point, the world is good. I have a new do and I look and feel fabulous.
I enjoy unbraiding my hair when it’s time to take it out and checking my length to see how long its’ grown. I look forward to combing my hair and that first shampoo with hair that is free and clear once again. Hum… I don’t really enjoy taking my braids out. I do love when someone else does it as I sit back and relax. Boy do I wish that were true. That’s just me wishful thinking. I take my own braids out as I sit back and contemplate what braided style to wear next.
This is my flashback of the many different styles that I’ve had over my just about lifetime of wearing braids and my love of a style and technique that I think is absolutely beautiful. Presently, I’m wearing locs with Nu-Locs on the ends for length. dhb.

I love braids too! They’re so versatile, allow me to take African dance classes, & sweat without worrying about looking a hot mess afterwards!
