Cleanliness Is Next To….
Clean hair is one of the key components of managing healthy hair. Keeping your hair clean consistently will leave your hair refreshed and healthier. A great shampoo followed by a terrific conditioner is the recommended prescription for clean healthy hair.
How to properly wash your hair…
1. Throughly wet your hair. Allow the water to run through your hair to assist the shampoo and pre-remove any residue.
2. Once your hair is throughly wet, add shampoo- I recommend Oh My Heavenly Hair Fabulously Vegan Therapeutic Hair & Body Wash- sulfate-free, organic and lustworthy. Start with a quarter size of shampoo in the palm of your hands. If your hair is short add less, if your hair is long, add more.
3. With the shampoo in the palms of your hands, pat several areas of the head (front, back and sides). This step helps to initially evenly distribute the shampoo.
4. With fingers spread apart, place them on your scalp. Massage with the beds of your finger tips in an in-and-out motion, not circular. The in-and-out motion will assist in removing residue without tangling your hair. Continue this motion moving around the head. For short hair be mindful to incorporate all the hair in the process.
5. When washing long hair, hold the ends with a firm grip and gently rub the hair, knuckles to palm. Continue rubbing knuckles to palm until all ends are cleaned. This process is exactly like the process of hand washing clothes, just gentler. This process is call scrubbing and is recommended for Locs and Braids also. For Locs and Braids, as you go down the length of the hair, go in one direction. One direction, cuts down on the frizz.
6. Ready- now this is how it goes, in-and-out 3 to 4 times, scrub the ends. Continue this process until you feel your hair is clean. Rinse and repeat. Gentle is the key to maintaining healthy hair.
7. After you wash your hair, add conditioner. I recommend Oh My Heavenly Hair Fabulously Therapeutic Vegan Conditioner- natural, organic and healthy.
8. Follow the directions of the conditioner.

Debra:
I would love instructions on how to wash and condition braided hair. Can you give me tips on how to get the shampoo and especially the conditioner throughout my hair with the braids?
Hello Ms. Stephanie- when washing your hair, you want to get your hair wet enough to lather. The washing process is only recommended in the shower, not head over sink. Once your hair is wet enough to lather, add the shampoo (OMHH Fabulously Therapeutic Vegan Hair & Body Wash- of course). With the shampoo, pat several areas of the head for full coverage. Massage the scalp in an in-and-out motion. Go down the length of the braids/twist in one direction. Rinse and repeat. Once your hair is fully rinsed. Add your conditioner (OMHH Fabulously Therapeutic Vegan Conditioner) and follow the instructions. Once you have completed your conditioning, use a towel to dry (I recommend the Aquis towel). Pat the top of your head with the towel. To dry the ends, firmly hold and run the towel down the length of the braids/twist. Continue this process until much of the water is removed. Cover your hair with a silk or satin scarf until dry. At this point you may dry under a hooded dryer or allow to air dry.
