Health News: Break The Diabetes Chain

VeganA friend of mine posted something on Facebook the other day that really disturbed me. He stated:

“Today I reflected on the fact that I have Diabetes and will probably be injecting myself with insulin for some years now, if I expect to keep on going.”

This really bothered me for three reasons:

1.       He is a good friend and I truly care about his well-being

2.       This is just what most of the Medical Practices and all of the Pharmaceutical companies want you to believe. They would love to have us dependent on them for medical care and medications like insulin. After all, if we don’t need doctors and drugs, how will they continue to get rich?

3.       Diabetes is absolutely CURABLE or REVERSABLE!!!

I know what you’re thinking, “Yeah Right, prove it!”  Ok I will.

In a study conducted by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, 99 adults with type 2 diabetes were randomly assigned to follow either a low-fat, vegan diet or a diet following the current American Diabetes Association  guidelines. 69% of the participants either stop taking some of their drugs such as insulin or glucose-control medications, or lowered the doses.

Of  the sixty-nine percent, 43% of the participants were on a vegan diet which consists of no meat, fish or foods containing animal by products such as milk and eggs. The other 26% were on the ADA diet which had their calorie intake reduced significantly. They also were instructed to eat less foods consisting of sugar and/or starch.

The participants on the vegan diet lost an average of 14 pounds while the ADA diet participants lost 6.8 pounds

AC1 Glucose Levels fell by 1.23 points in the vegan group and by 0.38 in the group on the standard ADA diet.

Need more proof?

81 Year old Rosalie Iles was on Insulin since 1987. She started seeing Dr. Baxter Montgomery in Huston who put her on a Plant Based Diet. Within three days she was off insulin and loss 35 pounds in two months.

After undergoing his second open heart surgery, Victor Fuller went to Doctor Montgomery and was placed on a plant-based diet. Not only is his Heart disease under control, he no longer has Type 2 Diabetes and has lost 50 pounds.

“If you were to eat a cheeseburger now, it would probably taste good for the moment. But from that point on, you only get the adverse effects of that cheeseburger” states Doctor Montgomery.

Diabetes is a reality that does not have to keep you or anyone you know in chains. Breaking free of the Diabetes chain may be as simple as changing your diet. Do your research and make sure you inform your doctor about your plans. Never stop using any medication without first talking to your doctor.

What sounds better to you, a plate full of fresh vegetables or a shot full of insulin? I’ll take the vegetables any day.
