Debra Hare-Bey is a licensed Cosmetologist and natural hair stylist with over a decade of hair care experience and product knowledge. She is the proprietor of OH MY HEAVENLY Hair Natural Hair Oil Boutique and More (ohmyheavenlyhair.com) located in Trenton, NJ and Red Creative Art Concept Studio (redcreativeartconceptstudio.com) located in Brooklyn, NY. In 2007 Debra developed a line of natural products based on the philosophy of Ayurvedic medicine.  Ayurveda means science of life (Veda science- Ayur life); the harmony of mind, body and spirit.  In 2008 she went Green and expanded her natural line to include vegan and organic products for hair and body. 

Debra specializes in natural hair care, and is a respected authority and innovator in the hair care industry. She is one of few stylist highly sought after for her fashion forward ideas and creative styles. Clients and celebrities alike, rely on her ability to maintain their glamour and star appeal. An example of her magic became the signature look of actress Erika Alexander from the hit sitcom Living Single. Max, Erika’s character left quite an impression on her fans. Her Nu-Loc hair style still remains the most admired style to date. Debra’s designs are always “naturally sophisticated and exquisitely beautiful”. Debra’s philosophy is “Healthy beauty naturally, healthy hair always”.

Debra is committed to consistently raising the bar of professional natural hair care, as she bridges the gap between beautiful, healthy and natural. Always the dedicated professional, Debra was one of four women instrumental in changing the Cosmetology law in NY. The law was changed to include Natural Hair Styling as a viable option for licensed stylists. The new law opened the door for those who did not want to work with chemicals. It was a major accomplishment for African-American women, braiders and natural hair enthusiast.

Debra continues to work with the New York State Board of Cosmetology as a consultant, and proudly proctors the Natural Hair Styling Exam. Additionally, she continues to partner with Revlon and similar companies aiding in product development, consumer outreach services, consulting and forecasting the latest trends.

Debra is the former Associate Editor of Braids & Beauty Magazine. She continues to write for other publications sharing her experiences and expertise on natural hair care. Her two beautiful daughters Nia-Marie Essie Hare-Bey and Amber-Jade Elizabeth Hare-Bey are the loves of her life. Debra is very proud of her accomplishments, but notes being a mom as her most cherished accomplishment to date.

  1. i absolutely love the layered bob style and actually many of the other styles you have created as well! i would love to get one of the styles the only thing is i’m in chicago, do you have any salons here? keep up the good work!

    • Thank you very much. I do not have a salon in Chicago. You can fly out as most of my clients do. There’s nothing better than getting what you want, when you want it.
